My earlier works were all abstract. Each painting reflects a moment, an expression of an intense feeling, passion, pain, confusion or love. I would throw myself into the canvas and the colours and just let it flow...
When my parents retired to Cornwall, I returned to visit them. Stunned at the natural beauty, I felt compelled to paint it. The rolling hills, and the cliffs against the sea, and the sky, inspired me to capture these impressive landscapes on canvas.
I began to paint stones quite by accident and due to an accident!!! A deal with my physiotherapist led to the first painting. Then my realization that every stone has a personality led to continuing works. (Personality=Form/colours/imperfections)
My passion for painting flowers developed through tending my large wild garden. I developed a relationship with the nature that surrounded me. The more you look the more you see. Form, colour combinations, and plays of light, natures designs are endless...
There are two main reasons for painting waves, I have always felt a strong connection with the sea, and my brothers are keen surfers. The combination of colour, movement, and sound take me away, and when I paint breaking waves I feel the same.
I was recently commissioned to create paintings for a small, well designed apartment in Rock, Cornwall. I feel that both my painting skills, combined with my interior design background, enable me to create the final touch to any interior, creating balance and harmony.
